The Hon Michael Ronaldson has been appointed to the Australia Post Board[/caption]Australia Post's shareholder Ministers, the Minister for Communications and the Minister for Finance, today announced the re-appointment of John Stanhope for a second term as Chairman of Australia Post, and the appointment of Jan West AM and the Hon Michael Ronaldson as non-executive directors for terms of three years each.Yet again, the Government has missed the opportunity to appoint Directors to the Australia Post Board with postal industry experience.POAAL raised this issue repeatedly with the Prime Minister when he was Minister for Communications. It is disappointing that the Federal Government has once again failed to address the lack of postal industry experience on the Australia Post Board.Ms West sits on a number of other boards. Her term will commence in late May 2016.Mr Ronaldson is a former politician. He was the Liberal member for the federal seat of Ballarat during the 1990s and later sat as a Liberal Senator for Victoria. He served as Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Special Minister of State. Mr Ronaldson will fill an existing Board vacancy.Board member Michael D’Ascenzo's term will conclude in late May. Mr D'Ascenzo was previously the Commissioner for Taxation. He was appointed to the Australia Post Board in 2013 when the ALP was still in government. The Government today also announced new appointments to various other Government and GBE boards. This is typically a sign of an imminent election date announcement.
