Swiss Post will be testing delivery robots by Starship Technologies.[/caption]Swiss Post has announced that it will start a trial of self-driving delivery robots.Robots from manufacturer Starship Technologies will be used in the trial, scheduled to start in September. They have a load capacity of up to 10kg and can transport goods over a distance of up to 6km.The delivery robots will travel at walking pace on the footpath and in pedestrian zones, navigate autonomously to their destination and avoid obstacles and danger points automatically.The robots navigate using a mixture of geolocation signals (e.g. GPS) and visual recognition of the environment using multiple cameras. At awkward points and in cases of doubt, a remote operator takes control of the parcel robot from a distance.[caption id="attachment_7020" align="aligncenter" width="398"]
