POAAL welcomes Australia Post's announcement this week that the LPO minimum payment allowance will increase from $20,000 to $30,000 per year from 1 July 2015.Almost 500 LPOs will qualify for the increased minimum payment allowance.The minimum payment allowance (sometimes called minimum income payment) was introduced some years ago in response to lobbying by POAAL for a guaranteed minimum Australia Post income for very small LPOs. Since then, POAAL has successfully pushed for increases to this payment.This payment mainly applies to smaller LPOs in rural and remote areas.The annual minimum payment to Community Postal Agencies will increase to $7500.
