Save money - don't turn right!

Parcel delivery company UPS has hit upon a novel way of reducing fuel consumption. By planning delivery runs to avoid left-hand turns (equivalent to turning right, across traffic, in Australia) the company is able to save a small amount of fuel per delivery vehicle.Multiplied across its entire delivery fleet, UPS is reportedly making significant fuel savings.UPS is also reported to have banned kerbside idling while effecting deliveries in an attempt to reduce fuel consumption. It is unclear what impact this would have on engine wear and tear.
