The Federal Government has announced plans to sell Medibank Private. In recent months, there has been continued speculation that Medibank Private and Australia Post will be privatised. Now that the Government has made a decision to privatise Medibank, what is the future for Australia Post?Prior to the 2013 federal election, POAAL sought and received assurances from the major political parties that they had no plans to privatise Australia Post. Since the election, there has been ongoing speculation over the future ownership of Australia Post.POAAL fully supports retaining ownership of Australia Post in Government hands to ensure that all Australians continue to receive a good postal service. Privatisation or deregulation would damage the service received by Australian residents in all parts of the country, and in particular country and rural areas.
