Pre-Christmas peak

FedEx has announced that it expects this year's pre-Christmas "peak day" to be Monday 10 December. It has forecast that it will handle 19 million shipments worldwide on that day.[caption id="attachment_5608" align="alignleft" width="398" caption="A FedEx van in China"]

[/caption]For the overall Christmas trading period from 22 November to 25 December, FedEx predicts that it will deliver more than 280 million shipments via its worldwide shipping networks. This would be a year-over-year volume increase of more than 13% compared to 2011 (247 million shipments).This year's predicted busiest day is known as “Green Monday” in US ecommerce circles, the term that eBay coined for its busiest December sales day, usually the second Monday in the month and the start of the heaviest online shopping week of the year.
