Statistics from the Universal Postal Union have shown that global letter revenues are declining. But while letter revenues are diminishing, revenues from postal financial services, parcels and logistics services, and other products have grown.Parcel and logistics services make up a growing share in global postal revenues. Postal corporations saw a 7.7% increase in parcels and logistics between 2001 and 2010. In 2010, they accounted for 15.7% of global postal revenues, in no small part because of the growth of e-commerce.Several countries reported more dramatic changes. Parcel and logistics services accounted for 77% of Philippine Post’s total revenues in 2010, a significant increase from its eight per cent share of 2001’s revenues. Parcel and logistics services volumes leapt from three per cent of India Post’s total revenues in 2001, to 40% in 2010.Nearly 6.1 billion domestic, and 43.6 million international parcels were sent in 2010, while 376 billion domestic letters and 4.8 billion international letters were posted.
