DHL Express in Germany is testing bicycle deliveries for documents and smaller parcels.The trial, which will last until the end of September, will feature the “DHL Parcycle”, which has a sealable transport box with a holding capacity of 140 litres.Unlike delivery vehicles such as vans, bicycle couriers can ride right up to the recipient’s door. Bicycle couriers are less affected by traffic and can sometimes use shortcuts.Delivery by bicycle is attractive to customers as an environmentally friendly option.DHL Express has deployed bicycle couriers in nine European countries so far – including the Netherlands, France, Great Britain and Italy.
