The area ahead of the truck is also scanned by a stereo camera located above the dash support behind the windscreen. The stereo camera identifies single- and double-lanes, pedestrians, moving and stationary objects as well as the condition of the road surface. It also registers the information on traffic signs.Mercedes-Benz is also promoting the idea of the truck as an office, allowing the driver time to complete paperwork and other business tasks while the truck drives itself. There are still many legal and regulatory hurdles to be cleared before autonomous trucks go into production.
