Meeting with Minister for Small Business

[/caption]POAAL today met with Brendan O'Connor, the Minister for Small Business, to discuss the issues facing small business owners in the postal sector.We held a broad-ranging discussion, detailing some of the issues Licensees have in common with other small retail business owners as well as some of the issues specific to the postal sector.Some of the topics covered included:

  • Growth in parcels volumes and customer expectations for parcel delivery;
  • Financial institutions' lending practices for small business;
  • Provision of Government services through the post office network; and
  • Impact of the carbon tax on LPOs.

POAAL has previously had dealings with Minister O'Connor when he served as Minister for Home Affairs. We look forward to further conversations with the Minister concerning the LPO network - the largest franchised retail network in Australia.
