Mackay Meet 'n Eat

Scanning and the future of philatelic were two of the major talking points at the POAAL Meet 'n Eat held in Mackay on 18 January.POAAL Queensland Chairman Jenny Patroni led the discussion, which covered topics including:

  • Ownership of Australia Post - Licensees present were in favour of Australia Post remaining in public ownership.
  • Scanning of barcodes - Licensees discussed some of the issues with non-compliance on scanning, in particular when items weren't scanned properly before they get to the LPO.
  • Return of Christmas stamps - all Licensees at the meeting had taken advantage of the deal negotiated by POAAL for Licensees to return unused Christmas stamps.
  • Authorised Holiday - many Licensees at the meeting had applied for and received official permission to close on the Australia Post Authorised Holiday, as negotiated by POAAL.
  • Employee relations - the difficulties of managing staff and complying with workplace laws were discussed. One Licensee who used Workforce Guardian's free over-the-phone workplace relations advice was most impressed with the service. An exclusive benefit to paid-up POAAL members!
  • Other topics discussed included minimum order quantities, delivery points, and new retail products.
