POAAL Launceston meeting

POAAL Tasmanian Chairman Chris Dancer and POAAL NSW/ACT Chairman Bob Chizzoniti with some of the Licensees at POAAL's meeting in Launceston[/caption]Licensees from all over Tasmania gathered in Launceston to hear from POAAL's Bob Chizzoniti about the future of the LPO network.Bob led a group discussion on current topics. The woes with the PO Box system were detailed, noting issues at the counter as well as some customer complaints regarding online payments. Licensees gave their views on the new customs forms.Barcode scanning was a hot topic. All Licensees present reported experiencing problems with scanning not being done properly on delivery items.Other current topics discussed included:

  • Security
  • Western Union transactions
  • The new system to replace LiPOMS
  • The proposed Hold At Post service
  • Compliance

Bob gave a presentation on trends affecting the future of the post office. Customers - in particular e-commerce customers - are demanding more and more when it comes to parcel delivery. Meanwhile, improvements in technology and communication are disrupting some of Australia Post's traditional business, such as letters.
