FedEx has signed an agreement with Azure Dynamics to develop hybrid powered vehicles for FedEx's delivery fleet. This follows a continuing trend for major logistics and delivery companies (such as Australia Post) to trial and develop alternative powered vehicles.Azure Dynamics is a company that specialises in developing hybrid electric vehicles and electric vehicles. The company will develop a hybrid commercial delivery van with FedEx. FedEx has committed to purchasing a minimum of 20 hybrid vans to be delivered before May 2008.FedEx has noted that it is continuing to seek opportunities to drive efficiencies with positive environmental spinoffs. It already has 93 hybrid-electric vehicles in service in North America.
