Australia Post has announced that next-day inbound Express Post services will be maintained for Northern Tasmania. POAAL and Tasmanian Licensees welcome the decision.Australia Post had previously indicated that it intended to remove Northern Tasmania entirely from the interstate Express Post next-day network. This latest announcement, along with the earlier announcement that next-day outbound Express Post services from Northern Tasmania would remain, means that the current Express Post next-day services to and from Northern Tasmania will remain in place.POAAL lobbied Australia Post (at a National and State level), the Minister for Communications Senator Conroy and the Shadow Minister Malcolm Turnbull for the continuation of next-day services to and from Northern Tasmania. POAAL’s position was covered in Tasmanian newspapers The Examiner and The Mercury. Many Tasmanian Licensees backed up POAAL’s lobbying by writing to the Minister and to Australia Post.Express Post is an excellent service – possibly the best service Australia Post has ever launched. It’s a service appreciated by businesses and consumers, and a mainstay of Licensees’ businesses.
