CPI for mail contracts

Under Clause 10 of the mail contract, Mail & Parcel Contractors can apply for a review every 12 months of their vehicle operating costs. Australia Post will apply the movement in CPI to the contract's vehicle operating costs.Australia Post uses statistics collected by the Australian Bureau of Statistics for its CPI calculations. Clause 10 of the mail contract notes that the CPI is the "All Groups Index" from Catalogue Number 6401.0. The figures can be accessed from the ABS website.The March quarter figures are currently available. June quarter figures will be published on the ABS website on 22 July 2009.
