POAAL Director Bob Chizzoniti hosted a meeting for Licensees in Brisbane on 28 January. Licensees came from all over the city to hear Bob speak and to ask questions about current issues in the Australian and global postal sector. Here are some of the topics discussed:
- BPR increase and introduction of two-speed letters service
- Handling outward mail and receiving the appropriate level of OMPF. It appears that some Licensees who are paid 1.5% OMPF are performing more work than necessary.
- New Post Office Management System - the successor to LiPOMS
- Security
- Disruption of the postal business thanks to the internet
- The future of the post office network, including the prospect of privatisation
- Prospective agency business opportunities in Queensland
- Passport photos - continuing issue where corporate post offices reject passport photos that are compliant
- Scams targeting the postal network
