Australia Post proposes changes to fuel price reviews

Australia Post has sent correspondence to all Contractors regarding changes to the way Australia Post will deal with fuel price reviews.Australia Post is offering to reduce the threshold for fuel price reviews from 7% to 5%. This is a small positive step for Contractors.Australia Post is also offering to use fuel indices for diesel and LPG (as appropriate) when performing fuel price reviews. This is long overdue, and POAAL is pleased that Australia Post has heeded POAAL's calls for fair dealings for Contractors who use diesel. As price rises for diesel outstripped price rises for ULP over recent years, Contractors who use diesel have been severely disadvantaged by Australia Post's fuel price review system.POAAL's lobbying on behalf of Contractors has brought results over the years. During recent meetings with Federal MPs in Canberra, POAAL continued to push for automated monthly fuel price reviews. POAAL has also met with the Minister for Communications, Senator Stephen Conroy, to discuss the benefits of automated fuel price reviews.Automated reviews would provide fairness and transparency, while assisting Australia Post in managing its costs.POAAL will continue to work hard on behalf of Contractors.
