Australia Post 2010-11 annual report

Today Australia Post released its 2010/2011 annual report, showing a pre-tax profit of $332.3 million. The contributions of some of its key stakeholders, however, barely rate a mention in the annual report and are ignored altogether in Australia Post’s media release.POAAL is pleased with the improved overall financial return for Australia Post. “In the last 12 months Australia Post has taken some steps to come to grips with the challenges facing the postal sector in the 21st Century,” said POAAL CEO Ian Kerr.“With its core businesses fully mature, there is a pressing need for Australia Post to modernise and to seek new and appropriate income streams while maintaining high service levels in its traditional business,” Mr Kerr said. “It is in our members’ best interests to see Australia Post in a healthy financial position.”There are almost 3000 LPOs serving communities right across Australia. There are also thousands of Mail Contractors delivering mail and parcels for Australia Post. These small business owners are the public face of Australia Post in thousands of communities – they are responsible for delivering Australia Post’s Community Service Obligations in their area.POAAL takes this opportunity to publicly acknowledge the important role that Licensees and Mail Contractors play in connecting Australians and delivering postal and other Australia Post services. They have each made a personal investment in Australia Post’s business and contribute to Australia Post’s success and financial wellbeing.
