Adelaide meeting

Australia Post's Kym Altmann was the guest speaker at the POAAL meeting held in Adelaide on 12 November. The meeting was hosted by POAAL SA/NT Branch Chairman Chris Campbell. POAAL Director Dennis Jenner and CEO Ian Kerr were also present.Kym gave a detailed presentation to the large contingent of Licensees present on different aspects of the Australia Post business, with a Licensed Post Office focus.Some of the significant points from Kym's presentation included:

  • Improved processing rates for passport applications at LPOs.
  • The EPOS hardware upgrade is continuing, and is scheduled to be complete by February 2014.
  • Australia Post's heightened focus on OH&S across the entire postal network, including LPOs. Australia Post Managers now have some KPIs tied to OH&S.
  • LPO security.
  • Australia Post's community initiatives.
  • Ordering stock and consumables via EPOS.
  • FlexiPOS trial at some manual LPOs is ongoing.

Licensees made the most of the opportunity to ask Kym questions on topics including overweight/oversize parcels, problems with scanning Click&Send barcodes, availability of some transactions at LPOs, passport cameras and contacting LPO Network Managers.Licensees showed their appreciation for Kym's frank assessment of the different aspects of the postal business and for listening to Licensees' opinions on various issues. Kym was given plenty of suggestions and feedback.POAAL CEO Ian Kerr urged Licensees to request their Disclosure Document each year from Australia Post. He also underlined the importance of understanding the LPO Agreement and the LPO Arrangements Payment Scheme.
