POAAL offers Mail Contractors the opportunity to access the insurances they need under their contract through the POAAL master policy insurance policies. You can take out POAAL membership and insurance online at (Click “Sign up” if you’ve never been a POAAL member before.)

Or you can contact the POAAL National Office direct on 03 96544533 and pay over the phone with MasterCard or Visa.

POAAL has teamed with insurance broker Network Insurance Group to source great coverage at excellent prices for Mail & Parcel Contractors.

The most common mandatory insurances required by mail contractors are:

  • Public Liability Insurance
  • Personal Accident Insurance
  • Marine Cargo Insurance (Goods in Transit)

Australia Post requires that most Contractors using a PDT (hand held scanner) insure the scanner.

Some Contractors may be required to insure a V-Sort sorting frame.

Mail Contractors should carefully scrutinise their contracts to check which insurances are mandatory.

Star Track Courier Contractors should check the level of cover required for Marine Cargo insurance.

Give Australia Post a copy of any insurance certificate(s) you receive. Do not give the original insurance certificate(s) to Australia Post – keep them as your record.

Policy wording and summaries of insurance are available from the Network Insurance Group website.
