Telstra scraps $2.20 fee

Telstra will no longer charge customers $2.20 for paying their Telstra account at a post office. Customers who have paid the $2.20 fee since it was introduced in September will have the fee refunded.

POAAL lobbied hard to have this fee rescinded. Licensees from all over Australia contacted POAAL when the fee was announced, pointing out that this fee would be unfair on customers and could hurt Licensees’ businesses.

It is pleasing that Telstra has recognised the deleterious effect the fee had on its customers. POAAL hopes that other telephone companies will follow Telstra’s lead and remove their discriminatory over-the-counter bill payment fees.
