German post offices to be privatised

Posted: July 1, 2008 at 5:10 pm

Deutsche Post, the German national postal operator, will sell its remaining 750 “corporate” post offices in the next three years.

By 2011, Deutsche Post will have a retail network consisting of 13,500 post offices, all operated privately or PostBank.

Deutsche Post is obliged by law to have a minimum of 12,000 postal outlets. The conversion of its 750 corporate outlets is part of its continuing overhaul of the German postal network.
